Post Thanksgiving report

Posted under Holidays

simply awesome…

I woke up yesterday morning and promptly prepped the turkey and got it in the oven which called for a drink. Ahhhh, White Russians for breakfast. I hadn’t even finished my coffee yet and was well on my way to a lovely Thanksgiving dinner with the family. I managed to get everything ready to go and we had dinner right on time. I totally own turkey dinner. I had cooked for 8 people and then on short notice learned that I would be service 11. Not a problem at all. Just set 3 more plates at the table and had another cocktail. My brother in law brought his Mom and 2 guys from our local rescue mission that didn’t have any family to speak of. Needless to say, the dinner rocked and everyone was fat and full. I didn’t even bother with the pie thing due to gorging on too much other stuff so I decided to take a nap. An hour later I was up again and lounging on the couch.

I got a text from J asking if I wanted to go bowling with him and Mush and of course I said yes. I think this might be a new Thanksgiving day tradition. I mean, what’s not to like about bowling. I’m totally diggin’ this bowling action lately. We met down at Stardust Lanes around 6pm and tore it up for a few hours. Mush bowled a personal high of 169 and I finished off with a 192.

J headed for home and Mush and I went looking for an open bar. We ended up at the Blue Mountain Casino and had a few drinks before calling it a night. Dropped M off at her place and I went on home. All in all, I had an awesome Thanksgiving Day. Friends, family and loved ones. What could be better, right?

I had to work today and it was really slow as I suspected. Took a few calls and made a few sales but that’s about it. Gonna take M out for some dinner tonight after work and probably have a few drinks. I gotta work in the morning, gah! So, that’s about it for now. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving Day.

Take care…

The day before

Thanksgiving that is…

A slow day at work fo sho! Phones are hardly ringing. Go figure. I will be off at 7pm and will probably take M to my house for cocktails, food and our Doctor Who fix. w00t! In the morning I will be getting up at the ass-crack of dawn to put my arm up a turkey. That’s right, I do all of the cooking for my family every year. It’s just something that I adopted years ago and continue to do. The nice thing about it is that I KNOW it’s gonna be good. I fuckin’ own Thanksgiving dinner! I went shopping last Monday for all the fixin’s so I’m ready to roll. I may do a little prep tonight but not much.

In other news, I’ve been constantly playing with my new iPod Touch getting it all spiffed up with apps and tunes. It’s total crack and I love it! It’s hard to put down and really no reason to at this point. Well, I guess to shower would be a good reason.

I’ve also been leveling Supramax through the new WOTLK content. I must say that Blizzard has done a great job with improved graphics, story lines and gear. Half way to level 73 and I’m totally diggin’ it! Can’t wait to hit level 80 and start gearing up for some serious PvP action. It also looks like the armory is now out of beta stage. Kinda nice.

I would also like to take this time to welcome Left Coast Girlie to the wonderful world of blogging. Stop by and check her out. I think you’ll dig her blog, I know I do.

So, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. I hope you have a good one.

Take care…

WoW, Balls and Holes

Posted under General

can I get a w00t?

Today was the release date for the long awaited World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lick King. I went down to our local Hastings and picked up my copy today during lunch. I’m totally stoked and looking forward to the install.

I also bought a new bowling ball last week and have been waiting to have it drilled. So, I emailed the guy who does the drilling at one of our local bowling alleys and setup an appointment for fitting and drilling. Within 15 mins. I had my hand measured and the ball drilled to fit. There were no open lanes for me to try it so I’ll have to head back tomorrow night for a test run.

Tonight, the GF and I are going to go home, make some dinner, have some cocktails and start Doctor Who Season 3. We recently watched both seasons of Torchwood and it’s gonna be nice to settle back into some Who again.

All for now…

Veterans Day

Posted under General, Rants

in which I think of my Father and Nephew

Veterans Day Wiki: Also known as Armistice Day, and very occasionally called “Remembrance Day”, ‘Veterans Day’ is the American name for the international holiday which commemorates the signing of the Armistice ending World War I. In the United States, the holiday honors all veterans of the United States Armed Forces, whether or not they have served in a conflict; but it especially honors the surviving veterans of World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The American holiday was briefly moved to the final Monday in October under the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, but the change was greatly disliked and soundly criticized – among other reasons, because it put Veterans Day out of sync with international observance; so it was restored to November 11.

Today I sit and wonder what this Holiday means to me. I think that it’s a day set aside to remember those that have served or are serving in a war. I can’t help but to think of my Father who server in World War II and then again in the Korean War. He passed away in Oct. of 2005 and I miss him dearly. Also, my Nephew who has been deployed to Iraq twice now and will probably be deployed again. Every time he’s deployed I worry that he won’t come home and I just wish that the war in Iraq would end. I greatly appreciate what they have done for us. They served selflessly and I honor them today.

This is also a day that many of us take off from work. (A Federal Holiday: A holiday recognized by the Government. Federal employees are given the day off and are paid for it. Typically, banks and stock exchange employees are given these days off as well.) So for those of you sitting in your house, doing whatever it is that you do, I hope that you take a moment to remember what this day is really about. Believe me, it’s more than just another day that you can take advantage of.

All for now…
